GESSO AS A MEDIUM AND A BINDER

I love gesso. I love everything about it. I even love the word itself. Have you ever painted something you were not happy with? Gesso over it and start something new. When you drybrush gesso over a piece, it pulls up the texture and softens the colors. I have mixed acrylic paint into gesso when the gesso is handy and the titanium white is not. Whatever works! For this piece the gesso is used as a medium and a binder. The foam core houses were dipped into gray gesso and applied to the canvas. The gesso binds them to the canvas.
